Toronto - April 17, 2007 - Steamworks Media's Michelle & Colin Gay have been named as PROGRAMMER OF THE YEAR finalists the 2007 Canadian New Media Awards. The team was nominated by SailorJones Media for their work on The Fundamental Freedoms Project's Web site, www.charterofrights.ca.
Steamworks lead the development, architecture design and programming of the multilingual site which launched in June 2006 in English and French. The German, Italian and Chinese sites followed in 2007. The Steamworks Media team is responsible for the custom backend technology driving www.charterofrights.ca.
The site is planned to accommodate 11 languages and incorporates audio and video and multi-language transcripts delivered through a flash av component.
"We're quite excited about the Steamworks nomination", said www.charterofrights.ca Executive Producer, Barbara Jones. The efforts of our diverse team to bring the Charter to life online would not have been realized without the technical talents of Steamworks. I think it is delightfully ironic this announcement came during the Charter of Rights and Freedoms' 25th anniversary celebrations,"she added.
The Canadian New Media Awards will be presented May 28th in Toronto. For more information about all of the 2007 finalists, see www.cnma.ca.
